Abstract Steel Slag is a waste material obtained from steel and iron industry. In India, annual outcome of Steel Slag is about 10 Million Tonne. The increase in demand for the ingredients of concrete is met by replacement of materials by the waste materials which is obtained by means of various industries.
Therefore, the utilization of industrial solid waste materials is becoming increasing important in the construction practice for energy, natural resources, and environment conservation considerations [1, 2]. Steel slag, a byproduct of steel making, is produced during the separation of the molten steel from impurities in steelmaking furnaces.
Use of Steel Slag Always, construction industry has been at forefront in consuming these waste products in large quantities. The consumption of slag in concrete not only helps in reducing greenhouse gases but also helps in making environmentally friendly material.
The main use of slag. Slag brick is a certain amount of water slag cement and other cementitious materials, after mixing, forming and steam curing made of brick. Slag concrete is wet grinding is slag and activator (cement, lime and gypsum) on the water .
using steel slag aggregate (SSA) in improving the engineering properties of locally produced asphalt concrete (AC) mixes. The research started by evaluating the toxicity and chemical and physical properties of the steel slag. Then 0%, 25%, 50%, 75%, and 100% of the limestone coarse aggregate in the AC mixes was replaced by SSA.
Study on Effect of Steel Dust on Strength Characteristics of Concrete ... causing a huge production of solid waste material like slag. Steel plants in India generate about 29 million tons of waste material annually, and 50 ... on various concrete properties. Use of steel slag and fly ash provides

Stabilization using solid wastes like copper slag, blast furnace slag, mines waste etc., is one of the different methods of treatment, to improve the engineering ... For the present study, Steel slag was obtained from Lanco Industries, Srikalahasthi ...
Slag cement, a byproduct of steelmaking, enhances the traditional concrete benefits of strength and durability while offering reductions in waste, energy use and greenhouse gas emissions. Slag cement is used in concrete for virtually any construction application, either in conjunction with traditional portland cement, part of blended cement or ...
Use of furnace slag and welding slag as replacement for sand in concrete. Authors; Authors and affiliations; ... and steel chips are industrial wastes in the iron and steel industry and cause a nuisance both to the health and environment ... The authors would like to express their thanks to the director of the National Institute of Technology ...
Most of the experiments performed by collecting a tyre wastes from trucks after removing the textile component and steel fibers. In some occasions the rubber wastes are chemically pretreated to improve the properties of concrete. Gradually, many researchers shown interest to do research beyond of this using waste rubber in concrete.
This quality protocol applies to England, Wales and Northern Ireland. 1. When the final product is no longer waste. Aggregate product made from waste steel slag will be regarded as fully recovered ...
The higher unit weight of the steel slag coarse aggregate concrete attributes to higher specific gravity of the steel slag coarse aggregate [7]. The main objective of this paper is the comparison between utilization of industrial waste steel slag as aggregate and natural aggregate (crushed dolomite and gravel) in underwater selfcompacting ...
The recovery and use of steel industry byproducts has contributed to a material efficiency rate of 97 % in some of the advanced countries, whereas India is far behind this target. The goal should be 100 % efficiency, or zerowaste. A critical analysis has been presented in this paper with special reference to Indian Steel Industries.
Steel slag aggregate generally exhibit a propensity to expand because of the presence of free lime and magnesium oxides hence steel slag aggregates are not used in concrete making. Proper weathering treatment and use of pozzolanic materials like silica fume with steel slag is reported to reduce the expansion of the concrete.

and [4] They have investigated about the partial replacement of cement in concrete by use of waste materials Steel Slag. Slag is a byproduct of metal smelting and hundreds of tons of it are produced every year all over the world in the process of refining metals and making alloys.
The present invention relates to a heavyweight concrete composition using slag produced as a byproduct in the steel industry, and more particularly, to a heavyweight concrete composition using slag byproducts, in which the slag byproducts (steel slag and blastfurnace slag) are efficiently used as fine aggregates for concrete and binders for an ...
Use of steel waste materials in a concrete as a fine aggregate to improve the properties of concrete. Use of steel slag has a dual advantage cost of material is low also it solve the problem of disposal. Base on overall project, it could be recommended that steel slag could be effectively utilized as a fine aggregate in concrete application
